Return to Facebook: The King of Social Media

A couple of months ago I decided to leave Facebook.

Let me just say I was disgusted with Facebook. It looked unorganized, to me there was no point to it.

Plus there were rumors at the time that it was stealing data from its members to sell to evil corporate empires around the world.

It was just gut instinct that made me do the final cut of the umbilical cord and float freely into a better world.

it turns out that my intuition was right. It made me feel superior to all those social media drones out there that would have a coronary if they even flickered a thought in their brain to leave the almighty social media giant.

Fast forward to today

I should be ashamed of myself to think that I could ever escape the need for Facebook.

After I left Facebook I started having trepidation. What had I done, will my business fail. Never mind the fact that it takes a thousand horses to free you from its clutches.

Facebook does not recognize the fact that you would like to delete your account. I tried but to know avail. They were kind enough to provide me with a zip file that contained all my old pictures and videos. My log-in and security information.

They just hated to see me go so much that they kept my log-in id and password. I could log-in anytime I wanted to my deleted account.

Facebook Meme

So what did I do!

When you can’t beat them, join them.

After much soul searching and listening to a number of gurus and experienced marketers on line I went back to Facebook with my tail between my legs.

Getting Serious now

According to Hootsuite.com

  • Facebook is the third most visited website on the planet.
  • Almost 68% of all Americans have a Facebook account.
  • 88% of Facebook users access Facebook via a mobile device.

Facebook business stats

  • 78% of Americans browse and get inspired by Facebook ads
  • There is a saturation problem on Facebook.
  • An average Facebook user clicks on 8 ads per month.
  • E commerce click thru rate have tripled in the last 3 years
  • The average price per ad has increased by 17% since 2018.
  • According to Hubspot.com 48% of marketers think their Facebook endeavors are effective.

This is a general outlook by me but if you really are interested you can get the relevant stats here:

Facebook Page for a Small Business

When I decided to use Facebook again I started a fan page. Facebook calls it “your page”. You can have a business or personal page. I chose to start a fan page.

  • Starting a fan page cost you $0.00 “nothing”
  • A fan page is a business page according to Facebook.
  • You have more control over your page.
  • Facebook ad prices are reasonable. Please start out with only a $1.00 a day to test the waters. In fact Facebook will donate you $5.00 when you start out.
  • Having a Facebook Page for Small Businesses boost you ratings in the search engines.
  • Having a Facebook Page gives you a way to communicate with your targeted audience.

I have not spent any money yet. When I do I will be cautious and spend a dollar a day to start out. I will have to see some returns before I really feel comfortable.

Here is my page:

Protecting yourself from Facebook

Facebook tracks you on line. What can you do about this. I use an extension called Facebook Container. This is available on Firefox. This is a tool that lets you work with the “King of Social Media” and know that you have more control of the data that it is collecting.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/facebook-container/

Heres to Mark Zuckerberg for bringing to the world a great social site so that we all can keep in touch with each other, sell stuff and get our data sold to the highest bidder.

Conclusion

Love Or hate Facebook. thats up to you. One thing that I have learned from Facebook it has put itself in the position of being needed. I think that is the top reason it is so successful.

See you on Facebook

My Personal Brand

What is a brand

My idea of what a brand is goes back to when I was a child. I can remember when Chevrolet had the little diddy “See the USA in your Chevrolet”. Another brand I remember is “Tony the Tiger” and “Cheetos Cheetah”. What child doesn’t remember those two crazy cats.

Theres a purpose for brands, when you see “Tony the Tiger” or “Cheetos Cheetah” you immediately think of Frosted Flakes cereal and Cheetos Cheese Puffs. Tony and the Cheetah were fun and they put an idea in your head. You probably got off the couch and ran to tell your mom the next time she goes to store could she pick up some Frosted Flakes cereal and some cheese puffs.

Same thing goes for Chevrolet. That little diddy reminds you of the fun you could have driving your chevy on a trip around America. In away it was also patriotic and about the time that little jingle was being used it was right around the end of World War 2 and the Korean War.

Affiliate Marketing and branding

The purpose of having a brand in affiliate marketing is just the same as the brick and mortar companies.

Its a way to be recognized for what you are known for.

In away a brand is used to remind people that you are available and if it is really catchy then it will be remembered for as long as you want it to be.

Icon and Branding

In affiliate marketing your icon is your brand. It could be your initials or maybe an item that people will remember. It has to stand out or the color should stand out.

Another word for icon is logo. Your logo could be abstract which puts me in mind the upside down V of the Confederation on Star Trek

Grey and Black Star Trek logo

Use something like that for your gr avatar image and people will start remembering who you are and will start to begin to see the connection between your gr avatar and your work on line.

There are alot of people that use a photo of themselves. I have one it is at the bottom of this page. I use the photo and I also have a logo.

Another way to use your logo

Besides using your logo on your website or blog you can insert it to your browser tab. This is called a favicon.

Here are a couple of ways to do that:

And of course we cannot forget WordPress:

Should you use an photo of yourself or an image

If you like how you look in a photograph I would use it when you start out in your career. People like to see who they are dealing with. It also helps to build trust.

Nowadays there is also video marketing so your clients will see you interacting with them there. But for the marketers that are shy and do not want to make a video of themselves your photo will be the first tool used as a brand.

Getting back to video marketing

Putting a face to a name is the best way of branding yourself, by far. Making a video of yourself is the best way people are going to get to know you.

So what are you going to talk about?

Talk about yourself, your trials and tribulations. Talk about what your interested in. The important thing is let people know what your all about.

Don’t worry about if its perfect. Only a robot is perfect. People want to see you in all your foibles. Don’t worry about pleasing everybody, thats impossible.

That is the best way to brand yourself.

Here are some very unique ways companies use branding in their marketing campaign:

Conclusion:

I have pointed out to you all the ways you can brand yourself. They are all important and will help you in your career as a affiliate marketer.

Review of Herculist Plus

Subject: Advertise to thousands daily, Free!

Herculist Plus is a safelist that has been in business since 2001.

I am not a big fan of safelists as I think they can be like traffic exhanges. Just alot of clicking and nobody paying attention to what they are clicking. Believe me I have been guilty of this my self.

I think herculist Plus is different. It forces you to slow down and look at what is being advertised. The advertisements are interesting of themselves so I don’t mind.

Some data about Herculist Plus

  • There are approximately 86,000 members
  • On the log-in page you will see a PRIME ad
  • The next page you come to will feature an i-BLAST ad
  • The next page will be the members page.
    1. As a free member you will get:
Daily plain text email/web ad submitted to 1000 members
500 Character Blurbs Earn 25% commissions on all referral membership payments 20 second surf timers 2:1 surf ratio (theZONE)

When you come to the members page submit your daily email. You will want to use the Regular mailer for your daily ad if you are a free or gold member. This is the main mailer.

By the way there are 3 levels:

  • Free
  • Gold
  • Pro

The next one is the credit mailer. You can use this mailer any time you want if you have credits to use. Get credits by reading blurbs or ads.

Now lets talk about the Power blurbs. They pop up all over the site and you can earn 35 credits every time you click on one.

The next way to promote your ad is thru The Zone. You can click the button at the top of the page, or you will also find it at the bottom of the members page. All you have to do is add your website link. This is where you get into “it pays to upgrade” territory. If you are a free member you earn 1/2 view for every site you view. If you are a gold member or pro its 1 view/1 view. Also if you are a free member there is 20 seconds between views, upgraded it is 5 second between views.

Leads, Leads, Leads!

Oh my goodness we are not finished yet.

The next way to promote your ads is called PRIME ads. Remember them, these ads are seen all over the site. They are embedded into the Herculist site in the prime spots, for instance when a person logs in they will see your prime ad and they they will see it when they log out. Here you pay a certain amount for views, the cheapest being 10 dollars for a hundred visitors.

Lets discuss the Hercublurb. these are my favorites because they are short. It takes 500 credits to submit a Hercublurb and a 1000 credits to submit a Powerblurb. I submit Powerblurbs. I do not have any trouble reading other peoples blurbs for 35 credits a piece. You have a bigger audience with the power blurbs because they are seen on various pages of the members area.

Almost the end

Their latest way of promoting your website is called the Traffic Bomb or i-BLAST. There is a box with the information at the bottom of the members page and the prices. From what I read on the i-BLAST page you blast your ad to 81,500 members. Every member that logs into Herculist and List Volta will be sent to your website. I am still researching the length of the i-Blast.

Conclusion:

Herculist Plus is a newer version of the old Herculist with 2 new ways of promoting your ad. These 2 ways are THE ZONE and PRIME. Herculist Plus is still connected to List Volta

http://listvolta.com/s.php?jackieb <–affiliate link

and Smart-List Mega Mails

http://www.smart-list.com/members/jackiejr/index.shtml affiliate link

There is a sale everyday and you can also win extra credits.

I do not know if you have to upgrade in order to use the i-Blast.

With the affiliate program a free member earns 25% commissions, gold member earns 35% commissions and a pro member earns 50% commissions.

I think this safelist is a cut above the rest and is well worth investing in.

Happy Promoting

Sincerely,
