In my last post I talked about getting a domain name, a website and a autoresponder. this is the best way to get started in affiliate marketing. You can also just put the referral link that the vendor supplies you with in various ad sites, safe lists and traffic exchanges. This is all good but if you have your own niche, you want to attract prospects that are interested in that niche. These people are looking for information within that niche and you will be able to help them.
Your own website where you can create an awesome webpage and a domain name that is relevant to your niche, this will help the search engine bots rank your page. Doing it the SEO way does cost you something and that is time and effort.
You are probably saying to your self about now “thats all good but I want a list that I can interact with”. Thats what your autoresponder is all about. Then you say to your self “how does my potential list and my autoresponder connect to one another”. They connect via a capture page or another term for it is squeeze page.
You can create these pages or buy them already for you to use. They consist of a Title, a sub title, a little about the product or maybe a free gift such as a ebook. It also could be a free plug-in and if your website is a wordpress site this is a great free gift.
The most important thing to you will be the form that you apply to the capture page. The forms code is found on your autoresponder which you then copy and paste into the page source of your website. It should have a first name and a email address slot for the potential subscriber to fill out in order to become a customer or a sales lead. Experts say that you really only need a slot for the email address so as not to take up any of your potential leads time.
Here is an example of one of the capture pages I use:
More on these tools later on. Here is the best way to get started in affiliate marketing.
The first thing you need to do is think about what you are passionate about. Do you like to read, are you a gardener. How about research. There are great blogs out there about little known topics that need to be researched. Digging up little known information about people or things in this world has captured alot of peoples imagination.
Look at the world through your future subscribers eyes. Blogs about health, relationships, money are popular.
Writing about what you are most passionate about helps to keep you going because it does not become boring. But then on the other hand you need to keep your subscribers in mind to. Your passion maybe history. Thats a wide subject:
- Theres the history of World War ll or the Civil War
- The history of any country
- The history of The Gold Rush
- Cultural history like womens history,
- The history of religion
It goes on and on. Each of those subjects within a category is called a niche which you can blog about.
Hows this going to help you sell products after all you are an affiliate marketer.
I am going to start off elementary. Join up to be an Amazon Associate and start by putting your text links in your blog, like so:
Where shall I get a website to use:
Its free, I made a page for you as an example. You do not need to know any code Wix takes care of that for you:
You can use Wix to blog or for a salespage. I used it to create a capture page. If you want to upgrade, it has a good ecommerce website.
The only problem with using a free website platform and in the case of Wix, the url they provide you with is not SEO friendly. The reason for this is the search engines do not think a third party url is trustworthy therefore they pass it by. The url below this paragraph is a third party url. the url is made up of:
This site would be fine to advertise on traffic exchanges, advertising sites and safelists. I suggest that you invest in your own domain name with the name of your niche in it, your own domain will be search engine friendly and you can also use it on TEs, advertising sites and safelists.
In conclusion: I reiterate by saying this is your business so make everything yours. That is the best way to get started in affiliate marketing. The only thing right now that does not belong to you is the products you are promoting.
